Remote learning will take place whenever the district decides it is unsafe to attend in person due to weather, a delayed start, or an early dismissal that changes the normal routine of the learning day/week.
Remote learning will look different for a preschooler than it will for older students. It will also look different than being in the classroom, but we know they learn best through activities where play is utilized. We will not send home packets of papers to complete or force them to be on technology for activities. The activities will consist of things you can do at home to help students build on their current skills. We ask that you send us a couple of pictures of your child doing activities through Class Dojo.
We are beginning to learn about buildings. Can you build a tower with 5 blocks? 7 blocks? 10 blocks? or more?
Build us a tower using blocks or anything else you can find at home to build with and count the blocks you used...How many did you build with?
One of the first things students need to learn when we are talking about recognizing letters is their name and the letters in their name. Go on a letter hunt around your house. Can you find all the letters in your name?
Options: *Write the letters of their name on sticky notes and hide them in the house. *Focus on one letter at a time to see if they can find it. *How many of each letter in your name can you find? Does your favorite food have any of your letters on the package?
There are all types of buildings in our community, talk about your child's favorite places to go and have them create a picture of that place....you can use any art material you have at home.
What are buildings made of?
Are some things stronger than others to make a building?
Think of the story The 3 Little Pigs....was straw, sticks, or bricks better to build their homes?
Can you try to build with 3 different materials to see which one is better...maybe sticks in your yard? plastic cups? pillows? What can you use to build with?
This week we are learning about self-talk. This is where you repeat the steps you need to do...Practice this at home by giving your child 2-3 step directions and have them repeat the steps as they do them.
Example: Put the cup on the table, put the toy under the chair, and sit in the chair.
We are currently working on putting together and taking apart words--also known as compound words. Practice this by giving you child the words listed in the image above and have them put them together and then see if they can take them apart.
Example:
I have foot and add ball=Football
I have football, what 2 words do I have? Foot and ball.
